Welcome! You are On Your Way to be Married!

Congratulations on your decision to get married.  It’s a brave and beautiful thing to do, making that commitment to each other.  It deserves to be celebrated in a way that is unforgettable.

Now you want to get everything ready.  Venue, cake, favours, flowers, the dress etc etc. There is so much to do! So many choices. But when it comes to the ceremony, you may think your options are fairly limited.

You may think that a civil wedding by a Registrar is your only option and for many people that is fine. If you and your husband or wife to be are active members of the same faith, you have a clear religious option. What if you want something a little off the beaten track, you have different beliefs or a Registry Office wedding does not appeal?

Crafting Your Ceremony.

Perhaps you would like to be able to have a ceremony that is a little more religious or spiritual in tone, with you being involved in creating it along with me.  Choosing some of the content such as the readings and any prayers and blessings. You would also like to have the freedom to say your own vows and  perhaps to have a handfasting.

That is where I can help.  As an interfaith minister I will conduct a “symbolic” wedding or wedding blessing which will take into account your wishes for a service.  In Northern Ireland, this can also include legal marriage.

In England and Wales, in most cases, there needs to be a brief legal ceremony at a Registry Office.  People do this quietly on the morning of their symbolic wedding or on some previous day.  You can then enjoy a wedding ceremony which is tailored to your wishes and tastes. Being divorced, or from quite different backgrounds to one another in culture or religion, is no barrier to this ceremony.

Peace of Mind

Whatever your beliefs, having a dedicated ceremony will help create a sacred bond and mark the transition from the previous form of the relationship to this new level of commitment.

If you choose me as your celebrant you have the peace of mind of knowing that I am a minister ordained through the One Spirit Interfaith Foundation, dedicated to serving the spiritual needs of people of all faiths and no particular faith.  I am insured and bound by a code of ethics. But most of all, I will listen to you and work with you to create a ceremony that is beautiful and heartfelt for you.

Whether you choose a ceremony that is religious, spiritual or secular,  it will be my privilege to make sure it is one that is really meaningful for you. One possibility is to be married outdoors in Northern Ireland, as in the photo above, with Dunluce Castle in the background.   It is a stunning location and I am able to do legal ceremonies there.

Game of Thrones fans?

Dunluce Castle is well known as a Game of Thrones location and any couple of love nature a little on the wild side will love the clifftop setting.  It’s not far from the famous Dark Hedges and you can include a trip there as part of your wedding day.

Not so keen on the outdoors?

Of course this style of wedding is not for everyone and if you prefer a more traditional setting that is also perfect.  Wherever you choose, the ceremony will be fit the tone you want to set and leave you with memories you will cherish. I’ve done weddings in Castles and traditional gorgeous venues as well.

Regardless of the venue, I offer couples support and encouragement when needed, and we work together to craft a ceremony that reflects you and your relationship,  and what is important to you both.
